i strongly urge you pple to buy the book(the curious incident of the dog in the night-time), i've got y'day. its so so funny yet moving and it'll quickly hook you in-you just can't stop reading. i started reading it at 12 plus last nite and forced my tired eyes to continue on for a few more pages.
this author wrote in a first-person narrator as an autistic child. so the book begin with a dog being murdered cox he said he said he must start a book with something tt catches pple's attention. And one thing bout this book, its chapters are not numbered lik, for eg. 1,2,3,4,5... its numbered in 2,3,5,7,11,13(prime numbers)...
he said he find pple confusing for 2 main reasons. firstly, he siad pple talk a lot without using words. and his friend told him tt when you raise one eyebrow it can mean lots of diff things. it means "I WANNA DO SEX WITH YOU" and it can also mean "I THING TT WHAT YOU JUST SAID WAS VERY STUPID". the second main reason is tt pple often talk using metaphors. here are some eg.s
i lauged my socks off.
he was the apple of her eye.
they had a skeleton in the cupboard.
we had a real pig of a day.
the dog was stone dead.
but he tot tt metaphor should be called a lie cox a pig is nt lik a day and pple do nt have skaletons in their cardboard. it confuses him cox imagining an apple in someone's eye doesn't have anything to do with liking someone a lot and it makes you forgot wat the person was talking about( cox then he will be imaginating and not listening).
and when he met an inspector he said his hairy nose looked as if there were two very small mice hiding in his nostrils. hahahahahahaha OMG!!! he left a star(*) beside tt sentence and wrote at the end od the page tt it isn't a metaphor, it is a simile, which maens tt it really did look lik there were two small mice hiding in his nosetrils, and if you make a picture in ur head of a man with two mice hiding in his nostrils, you will know what the police inspector looked lik.
so there you go. its really an enjoyable book i would stronly recommend you to buy( hah cox i won't want to lend mine out)!!! the cover is dark orange in colour and a dog printed upside-down. its an amazing novel so dun give it a miss
